Monica Shulman Group Show with Visionary Projects at the High Line Gallery
I’m excited to share that my work was selected for The Collective - a group show with Visionary Projects at the High Line Nine Galleries in Chelsea.
This summer I was lucky enough to attend my first artist residency. High on a hill above the ancient Valle Camonica in the town of Cividate Camuno in Lombardy, surrounded by the majestic embrace of the Italian Alps, stands RUC. This mystical place is an ancestral home where artists from all over the world come to work in and be inspired by nature and history.
Miami Art Week is one of the most attended art events in the world and this year I am headed there to show my work for the very first time! I'm proud to share that my work has been selected by PULSE Art Fair Director, Cristina Salmastrelli as part of The Next Generation exhibit - an initiative designed to showcase the artwork of emerging artists during Miami Art Week.
This month I'm all about that dark olive/hunter green with a touch of brassy peach and of course, lots of depth and texture. Lately I'm using a lot of these tones in my original paintings and in my wardrobe.
Going through a website revamp and redesign is A LOT of work. My previous website launched almost 7 years ago but internet years are like dog years and I was long overdue for a change. Here are four very important lessons I learned when I rebranded and redesigned my website.

I’ve been thinking about my tendency to try to convince myself that I shouldn’t be nervous about a situation. I want to own my feelings and let myself experience whatever I need to experience so why block myself from important emotions? Well, experimenting is an important part of my art practice and as someone who is usually nervous about and overthinking on all the things, this idea of embracing all the feelings (especially the hard ones) has finally made its way into other areas of my life. What a concept! The freedom!
I’m delighted to share that on Saturday, October 23rd, from 11 am to 6 pm, I am opening up my studio doors and participating in the RiverArts Studio Tour in the lower Hudson Valley!
You can now find a selection of my work in-house at Reservoir — a beautifully curated shop located at 101 Main Street in historic Cold Spring, New York. Please join us this Friday, July 23rd, from 4 pm to 7 pm for the soft opening and Artist Reception and thereafter during store hours by appointment.
My art practice denotes freedom and unapologetic honesty. My artwork explores a variety of general themes in my personal narrative. As an artist, I study the concept of excavation and discovery and I explore consistent themes of change and evolution using various mediums including oil paint, acrylic paint, oil stick, ink, house paint, gesso and pastels.
