Miami Art Week is one of the most attended art events in the world and this year I am headed there to show my work for the very first time! I'm proud to share that my work has been selected by PULSE Art Fair Director, Cristina Salmastrelli as part of The Next Generation exhibit - an initiative designed to showcase the artwork of emerging artists during Miami Art Week from December 5th to 8th.
This is a huge honor for me not only because I've long been a fan of PULSE but because Miami is a city that has meant a lot to me since my childhood and has hugely influenced my work. As a first generation American with parents born in Cuba and Argentina, I'm consistently exploring my heritage and cultural background in my practice by using bold colors, sculptural layers, and different mediums to express honesty and freedom in my work, and PULSE and the city of Miami are full in that tradition and in valuing diversity.
I feel so lucky to be featured alongside some incredibly talented artists and to be a part of this vibrant community! You can check them all out here. Check out this post on PULSE’s blog to read about what some of the Artists, including me, are saying about this exciting exhibit! You can also see a page with some information about my work as an Artist. This really is a dream come true!
If you follow me on Instagram you probably know how much I talk about the importance of doing the work, never quitting, trying to stay on track and keeping your thoughts in check so you can set goals and crush them. I talk A LOT about the inspiration behind my work, my personal narrative and how much my experiences shape not only my art but who I am as a person. Being in this show is an example of why I try so hard to stay true to these ideals and to trusting my process and my journey.
If you find yourself there this December 5th to 8th, I hope you'll stop by to check out this beautifully curated exhibit. I'll be there and would love to meet you!
