Black and white, acrylic and gesso original painting from Monica's new series Ebb and Flows.  This ongoing body of work is inspired by a black and white photograph from Monica's archive taken on the shores of the Greek island of Santorini.  

Inspired by the way the cool, smooth, flowing water of the sea broke against the rough, rocky shore, Monica has created a collection of images that seem at once urgent yet calming, and relaxing yet uncomfortable, using texture and strong contrasts in different shades of black and white.
